This month’s feature: Gwaii Trust Arts Program 2009/2010
Congratulations to Raven LeBlanc successfully completing her apprenticeship with Robin Rorick

Raven’s Testimonial
"Working with Robin Rorick was a wonderful and enlightening experience. It opened the door to Haida Art for me in so many ways. I have learned the basics of Haida Art such as how to properly draw ovoids, about positives and negative spaces, and much more. For me this experience was an introduction to Haida Art getting to know and explore it in depth. After working with Robin I have decided I want to keep pursuing Haida Art and continue to develop my own style and techniques. With each project I became more independent and began to using the skills that Robin taught me, but I still had much to learn. In the end I had made three beautiful drums and gained a lot of important knowledge, experience and confidence. I am currently continuing my journey in Haida Arts with Ben Davidson. I am eager to keep learning and improving my styles and techniques and I hope one day too I can give back to community and teach art to younger generations as well. I would like to thank Gwaii Trust from the bottom of my heart for funding me, I really appreciate it!”
Haawa!

Robin's Testimonial
“Learning Haida art is a slow process, which involves great deal of patience and commitment. I enjoyed working with Raven; she's quiet, nice and works hard on overcoming her frustrations by continuing to work on her art without giving up. She remained committed to the apprenticeship by showing up to learn. I believe she has a bright future in Haida art if her commitment continues to grow with her increasing skill. I'm excited that she is continuing to pursue Haida art. Thanks again for contributing to her training by funding her study hours.”
Respectfully,
-Robin Rorick
