Travel Assistance Program |
The
Travel Assistance Program (TAP) was established to aid in off-island travel for
Educational purposes (school-sponsored trips), Arts, Cultural, Sports,
Recreational Clubs, Seniors Events and in Medical Travel Assistance. The Gwaii Trust will match individual funding of up to $250.00 per trip
for off-island travel.
No restriction on the number of travel times per student.
A maximum matching travel amount of up to $2,000.00 per group.
The Administrator will manage trip feedback such as:
A final "trip report" prepared by the group or individual recounting the value and lessons learned from the experience.
The "goals to be achieved by travel activity" prepared and submitted with the application for travel assistance.
This
program is also eligible to fund travel costs for bringing “Expertise”
on-island for Educational purposes, Art, Cultural, Sports, Recreation, Seniors
events and Special Needs. However
in accordance with the Gwaii Trust’s green initiative technologies such as
video conferencing shall be utilized wherever possible.
The
Gwaii Trust Board of Directors has allocated $100,000.00 to this program in the
2008/2009 fiscal year. The TAP will
run from September 1st to August 31 each year.
All applications will be approved on a first-come first-serve basis.
All applications must
include the following information in the submission to the TAP:
1.
Letter of Support/endorsement from a recognized organization (club, team
or group)
2.
Proof of matching funds
3.
A detailed itinerary of the trip
4.
A detailed budget for the proposed off-island trip or for bringing
“expertise” on-island
5.
Submit copies of the travel receipts and final account of the trip after
the travel has taken place
Individuals
are allowed a maximum of two travel grants per year.
No
future funding will be approved until all obligations are fulfilled for previous
travel.
This
program cannot be used in conjunction with any other program.
Student
group travel for school events will be permitted outside the parameters of this
policy with the following additional requirements:
