About the Christmas Allocation Grant:

  • The Christmas Allocation Grant initially provides an annual $10,000 fund for each community served by the Gwaii Trust Society mandate.  This grant may be applied for, and utilized, at the discretion of the individual community governance applicants, but it must be of general benefit to community members.  The grant is intended to address the needs and wishes of each individual community around the holiday season. 

Guide to Applicants:

  • Gwaii Trust will allocate up to a maximum of $10,000 for each recognized Gwaii Trust community on Haida Gwaii*
  • All proposals must be signed off by the respective Gwaii Trust Board Member, approving the submission
  • The Gwaii Trust Board of Directors will not consider any information or supporting documentation received after the allocation deadline in the review of this project
  • All applications submitted become the property of the Gwaii Trust, who may publish the said application on their website or may otherwise utilize their content as Gwaii Trust sees fit
  • Proposals must be received by December 1st and the Christmas Allocation Grant must be completed by January 15

Online electronic applications are required to access this Grant.  All proposals should include the following:

  • Name of the organization
  • Purpose of the project
  • Budget of the project (cost quotes)
  • Timeline of the project
  • Letter of support from the community
  • Letter of approval from the respective Gwaii Trust Board Member
  • Submit any outstanding receipts and reports from the previous year

*The Recognized Communities on Haida Gwaii are:

  • Old Massett
  • Graham Island North
  • Graham Island Central
  • Graham Island South
  • Skidegate
  • Area “E”
