About

The Gwaii Trust Society has established a Travel Assistance Grant to assist Haida Gwaii residents to travel off Haida Gwaii to participate in educational, cultural, arts, sports, and senior events. This is a matching funds, out of pocket program, meant to assist residents with a portion of their travel costs, while not paying for their entire travel experience. This grant may also be accessed to fund eligible travel costs for bringing “expertise” on-island for educational purposes, arts, cultural, sports, seniors, and special needs.

Individual Travel Criteria

  • The Gwaii Trust Travel Assistant Grant is a matching funds grant, supplying funding to qualified individual applicants up to a maximum of $250.00 per trip for approved off-island travel. Expenses will be funded at the lesser of 50% of the total eligible out of pocket expenses or $250.
  • Participation is the key qualifier for this program. Attending an event as a spectator is not an approved purpose of this program
